My students have been participating in the Marching Band and Band Front Conference Workshops and the Drum Major Academies since 1974. As a band director, I have also participated in the Director Sessions since 1979. The Vivace Workshops truly help develop my students' proficiency level in their chosen field, from Drum Major to Color Guard students.

I feel that the Leadership Training sessions with Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser promote camaraderie amonst all musicians and color guard members and I feel that the Drum Major Academy helps develop a universal fraternity amonst the students who participate. My students leave the Vivace Camps better leaders and more motivated to face the marching season that lies ahead.

While the workshops provide a solid start to my students' background, they also teach new material and provide my students with fresh ideas to improve our program. Our band booster organization has seen the benefits in sending students to the Vivace workshops each year and have decided it quite important to provide financial support to these students to make their attendance each year a possibility. Every year I send my drum majors and guard members to the Vivace Marching Band and Band Front Conference Workshop. The knowledge they gain as leaders and members of their individual units is extraordinary. The last three years I have attended the director sessions which I highly recommend. Through the various workshops I am able to keep up with the latest trends in show design and knowledge on visual and musical aspects which is essential in today's marching band world. One other advantage in attending the workshop is that I can monitor my students' progress during the camp.

I just wanted you to know how much I got out of this camp. I have come 2 years previous and learned so much, but this year was exceptional. The classes were more than top line and the staff would jump hurdles for you. The hotel accommodations were great and the Directors party was awesome. It is so much fun to come to something like this and meet the other Directors that you will be working with in the year to come.
