STUDENT WORKSHOPS
Leadership Training Workshops for Music Students
These workshops, offered in one- and two-day formats, focus on the skills students need to be effective in leadership positions. Students learn the basics of these skills and then work on how to apply them when working with their peers.
Marching Band Workshops (feat. the Drum Major Academy)
These workshops provide an opportunity to learn about contemporary marching techniques through sessions geared specifically for brass and woodwind instrumentalists, marching and pit percussionists, color guard members, twirlers, and drum majors.

DRUM MAJOR ACADEMY
The George N. Parks Drum Major Academy (DMA) is a featured part of our Marching Band Workshops. DMA is intended for drum majors, or students interested in becoming one in the future. The Academy focuses primarily on conducting and command calling.
Not a drum major? Sessions are also available for brass, woodwinds, percussion, color guard, and twirlers. These sessions are geared towards students of every experience level, and offer expert instruction in your chosen field.

PREMIUM PACKAGE
The Premium Package consists of the Marching Band and Leadership Training Workshops at West Chester University; both for one discounted price. The Premium Package includes housing and meals. For more information about the Premium Package please contact Vivace Productions.

DIRECTOR & STAFF SESSIONS
These sessions are a featured part of the Marching Band Workshops, and are available to band directors, as well as brass, woodwind, percussion and color guard instructors of all experience levels. Directors can pick-and-choose the courses that they attend, literally creating their own schedule.

GRADUATE STUDENTS / ACT 48
Graduate Credit is available from West Chester University of Pennsylvania (WCU) for participants of the WCU Marching Band Workshop Director & Staff Sessions. The Sessions are offered as part of the WCU College of Visual and Performing Arts Samuel Barber Institute for Music Educators. Contact WCU for more information.
Pennsylvania ACT 48 credit is available to participants of any Marching Band Workshop Director & Staff Sessions. Contact Vivace Productions for more information.

PAYMENT OPTIONS / DEPOSITS
Payment Options
Payment options vary depending on the method of registration. Credit cards (Visa and MasterCard only) are accepted online, via phone, fax, and mail. Check, cash, and money orders are accepted only through mail.
Purchase Orders / Invoices
Mail, fax, or email a copy of the purchase order to Vivace Productions. Once the PO is received, an invoice will be sent. Invoices can be paid upon receipt, and must be paid within 60 days from the start of the workshop.
If you do not have a purchase order number but would like an invoice, please contact Vivace Productions to request an invoice; not all invoice requests are honored.
Deposits
A minimum deposit may be required to process workshop registrations; the amount varies by workshop. If a deposit is paid in lieu of the full amount, the balance must be paid by check-in of the registered workshop.

REFUNDS / RECEIPTS
Refunds
Refund requests must be made in writing (emails are acceptable) at least one week before the start of the workshop. Requests received after this deadline will only be considered in extenuating circumstances. A processing fee may be charged.

ARRIVALS & DEPARTURES
Arrival and departure (check-in and check-out) times vary by workshop. Specific times can be found in the information packets, sent after registration is received. Check-in is typically held on the morning of the first day of the workshop.
Early Arrival Option
Participants unable to check-in at the regular time may opt to check-in early for an additional fee. Contact Vivace Productions for more information about Early Arrival.
Airplane / Train / Bus
Participants arriving by bus, train, or airplane, and do not have a direct route to the workshop should contact Vivace Productions to make arrangements for pick-up or drop-off (not available for all workshops).
Late Arrival & Early / Late Departure
Participants who cannot make it to check-in, or have to leave before or after check-out, must make arrangements with Vivace Productions. There is no discount for any participant who has to arrive late, or leave early.

HOUSING & MEALS
Student Housing
Resident participants will be housed in dormitories. Most dormitories are not air-conditioned; a fan is strongly suggested. Males and females are housed in separate dormitories when possible; only two residents per room.
Roommate Requests
Roommate requests must be made at least one week before the workshop, and will only be considered if both people request each other. Requests are not guaranteed, although every effort is made to honor them; only two people per room.
Director & Staff Housing
Housing varies by workshop; most rooms are air-conditioned. Reservations for hotel lodging must be received by Vivace Productions no later than 21 days before the workshop. Contact Vivace Productions for more information.
Meals
Cafeteria meals are included for two-day Leadership Training Workshop commuter and resident participants.
Cafeteria meals are only included for Marching Band Workshop resident student participants.
Individual meals can be purchased for Marching Band Workshop commuter participants.
Cafeteria meals are included for Director & Staff Session participants who have chosen a meal plan.

COMMUTER V. RESIDENT
What is a commuter?
Any workshop participant who is not staying overnight, and will be commuting to the workshop on a daily basis.

RULES & REGULATIONS
- Participants must attend all of their respective sessions and are expected to be on time.
- Male and female students will be housed in separate dormitories. Visitation in the dormitories by students of the opposite sex is not permitted. Students of the opposite sex are strictly forbidden on dormitory floors or in rooms.
- Use of automobiles by any workshop student during session hours is strictly prohibited. Resident students are not permitted to leave campus at any time. Commuter students are only permitted access to automobiles before and after the scheduled session day, though they are encouraged to stay for any scheduled activities.
- A curfew and lights-out will be in effect every night.
- Alcoholic beverages and drugs are not permitted.
Any student unable to abide by the workshop regulations will be sent home at personal expense without refund.

SUPERVISION / STAFF
All dormitories and sessions are supervised by competent counselors from the Clinic Leadership Intern Program (CLIP). CLIP is comprised of college-age students, hand-picked by Vivace Productions for their leadership qualities and experience in the field of education.

WHAT TO BRING
Participants are expected to bring equipment for their respective sessions. Equipment (instruments, music lyres, rifles, flags, sabers, percussion, sticks, tape, maces, etc.) will not be supplied.
Leadership Workshop participants will only need a notebook and writing implement for their sessions; there is no need to bring any instruments or equipment.
Marching Band Workshop participant needs vary by session:
- Drum Majors must bring a copy of The Dynamic Drum Major textbook. Participants opting to attend the mace workshop are required to bring a mace.
- Marching Band Participants (brass and woodwinds) are required to bring instruments and lyres.
- Percussion Participants will need a practice pad, sticks or mallets, and their drum. Keyboard instruments and drum set are supplied for the pit percussion track.
- Color Guard Participants need to bring their selected equipment (rifle, flag, or saber).
- Twirlers are required to bring their own equipment.
- All Students are advised to bring a notebook and writing implement to all sessions.
Bed & Bath Linens / Toiletries
Vivace Productions and the workshop facilities do not supply bed or bath linens (towels, blankets, pillows, etc.) or any toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.). Participants are responsible for these items. Most dormitories are not air-conditioned; a fan is suggested.
Refrigerators / Food & Drinks / Other Supplies
Participants are in their dormitory room for a very short period of time, and are only permitted in their room during the day for emergencies. Water is provided at breaks during each session; it is a good idea to take a water bottle to the sessions.
Workshop Attire
T-shirts and shorts are the usual attire for summer workshops. Shoes or sneakers are required for outdoor workshops. Participants are asked to use their best judgment when dressing for workshop sessions.

MEDICAL NEEDS
For some workshops, a first aid station will be open during sessions with an EMT on duty. For the protection and treatment of sunburn and soreness students are asked to bring Band-Aids, Noxzema, sun screen, ace bandages, and comfortable shoes or sneakers.
Special Needs
Participants must sign a medical / consent form, to be handed in at check-in. This form includes an area to list any special needs, medical or otherwise, that a participant may have, including allergies, diseases, and disorders. FREE TIME & EVENTS
There is limited free time during the workshops. A complete program of carefully supervised evening social and recreational activities has been planned for some of the overnight workshops. These activities vary by location, and can include concerts, drum corps exhibitions, swimming, and DJ dances. Attendance is mandatory for some of the activities. Final Demonstration
Final Demonstrations will be held on the last day of the Marching Band Workshops. This is a chance for the workshop participants to show what they have learned. Family and friends are encouraged to attend the final demonstrations.
